Sierra and Tumbleweed

For whatever reason, most of my favorite images are those which I took along the edge of the highway.  Since we usually spend more time driving than hiking, I guess its just a matter of percentages.

The fence in the foreground is right along edge of Highway 395.  We had just left Lone Pine on our way back home.  We had scarcely driven a mile, when this view presented itself.  I had to stop the car, unpack most of our gear, set up the view camera, calculate exposures, take the image, and reverse the process.  Let's say that my wife was less than enthusiastic!
